Arriving in Bogota with her husband Prince Harry for four days on Thursday, August 15, the Duchess of Sussex caused a sensation in an outfit that was as elegant as it was flamboyant.
It’s a bit of a tradition with Meghan Markle. Every trip with her husband, Prince Harry, is an opportunity for her to outdo herself in terms of fashion. We saw this once again on August 15, when the couple left for Colombia for four days. The Sussexes have actually responded to the country’s Vice President Francia Marquez’s invitation in preparation for the country’s first World Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children in November. Welcoming Francia Marquez’s arrival, the Duke and Duchess held a series of meetings and events. For the latter, with a hint of diplomatic elegance.
Symbolic dress
When Meghan Markle went to the National Art Center in Bogotá on August 15th, she immediately chose a highly iconic dress, a fully embroidered metallic jacquard model signed by Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz. A slinky piece with thin straps and a sweetheart neckline, which she paired with brown Jimmy Choo sandals. A dress, of course, well found, but it is hardly surprising when we know that Johanna Ortiz is one of Meghan Markle’s favorite designers. We already noticed it on March 12 in Nigeria when she already showed off a cream and tulle dress by the same brand.
A few hours ago, Meghan Markle wore an elegant ensemble characterized by a navy blue sleeveless waistcoat with gold buttons and suit trousers of the same shade. All by Veronica Beard, an American luxury sportswear label founded in 2010. For added flair, she completed her outfit with a chunky fleece, Pippa Small earrings, black pumps and a $4,700 Loro Piana bag.
Professional “quiet luxury»
This “quiet luxury” trend, the idea of not showing off that one is wearing fancy clothes and accessories out of elegance or modesty, was renewed by Meghan Markle at a conference in Bogota the same day. Sitting between her husband and Vice President Francia Marquez, the duchess opted for a chocolate ensemble consisting of a flared blouse, a long satin skirt and open pumps. So it was official. Meghan Markle kicked off the fashion marathon festivities in Colombia with her signature “American” elegance.
The following day, the Duchess of Sussex opted for a linen blazer, again by Loro Piana, paired with Chanel pumps for a visit to La Giralda Public School in Bogotá. For the occasion, she accessorized with a small Cesta Collective bag. She was later immortalized in a white shirt and patterned silk skirt by Giuliva Heritage and Juan de Dios, a Colombian brand respectively, during the national team’s training for the Invictus Games. On August 17, Prince Harry’s wife appeared this time dressed in a white and black ensemble by Johanna Ortiz during a visit to a percussion school in Cartagena de Indias. At the moment, no one knows what the duchess will choose to wear during her visit to Cali.
