This Wednesday, the 14th, The Hollywood Reporter published an interview with the singer and actress Demi Lovatoabout his newest documentary “Child Star”, which promises to address the difficulties of child stardom, scheduled to premiere on September 17th on the Hulu streaming service.
In addition to talking about his own experience, the production directed by Demi next to the filmmaker Nicola Marsh will also feature stories from other big stars in the industry who also started their careers very early, such as Drew Barrymore (ET The Extraterrestrial), Kenan Thompson (Kenan & Kel), Raven-Symoné (That’s So Raven), Alyson Stoner (Camp Rock), and more.
However, something that caught the public’s attention is that, among the actors who worked alongside Demi at Disney in hits like “Camp Rock”, “Sunny With a Chance”, or even “Princess Protection Program”, just Alyson is present in the documentary.
In the interview with THR, Marsh points out that when they started working on production, Lovato and her team spent the day sending messages, talking to representatives, and doing whatever was necessary to count on big names in the production, however, unlike her, some artists contacted — who did not have their names revealed — were simply not ready or interested in revisiting this part of their past.
However, Nicola points out that, despite the countless “no”s they heard, Demi I was even more surprised when someone said yes, and that those who accepted came to the table with “extraordinary honesty.” Kenan Thompsonfor example, star of “Kenan & Kel” on Nickelodeon, will speak in the documentary about how he went “from rags to riches to rags” after being deceived by a supposed accountant, who stole everything the actor earned on the SpongeBob channel.
Already from their partners at Disney Channel, Lovato will have only two names: Raven-Symonéfrom “That’s So Raven”, who starred alongside the actress and singer in a special appearance in “Sunny With a Chance”, and Alyson Stonerwho plays Caitlyn in “Camp Rock”, Mitchie’s best friend, a character from Demi.
Stonerin fact, did not accept the invitation right away, and revealed that “My concern was that this would fall under the umbrella of sensationalist E! True Hollywood stories that, in fact, perpetuated what I call the train wreck pipeline.”
Therefore, to confirm your participation, Alysonwho uses neutral pronouns, asked to have a “healing” conversation with Demi Lovato before the recordings, since they hadn’t spoken in years — something the voice of “Skyscraper” agreed to without blinking.
