During D23, Disney announced which attractions will be leaving Orlando parks permanently; find out which ones they are!
After presenting big news about films, series and even Walt Disney World parks during D23, Disney (via People) also announced which attractions will be closed at the Orlando, Florida complex to make room for the new additions.
However, despite the confirmation of the new locations, park guests will still have time to enjoy the existing attractions before they close; find out until when!
Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island
In place of what we now know as the “Rivers of America” and “Tom Sawyer Land” attractions, there will be an attraction where you can meet the beloved “Cars” characters. Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom will have a complete area featuring the world’s most iconic drivers in the area adjacent to “Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.”
In a press release, Disney says that “guests can still enjoy Tom Sawyer Land and Rivers of America until at least the end of 2024.” Here’s what both attractions are currently up to:
DinoLand and DINOSAUR
Fans of the “DINOSAUR” attraction, currently located in DinoLand at Animal Kingdom, will have to say goodbye to the ride. According to Disney, the location will make way for new themed areas dedicated to the biodiversity of Central and South America. Among the new features are attractions inspired by the animated film “Encanto” and the “Indiana Jones” franchise, both scheduled to open in 2027.

In addition to the new features involving “Cars,” “Encanto” and “Indiana Jones,” the company also announced that Disney’s Hollywood Studios will receive the first suspended roller coaster at the Orlando complex. Inspired by “Monsters Inc.”, the attraction promises to be set in the Scream Processing Factory, where the doors that the monsters use to scare children are also located.
Construction on the project is scheduled to take place in 2025 and, according to some fan speculation, the roller coaster along with a new area dedicated to Monsters Inc. could take the place of the Muppet*Vision 3D attraction.
