The fifth film in the Toy Story franchise also received concept art featuring Woody, Jessie, Buzz, Forky, Bullseye, Slinky, Rex and Piglet.
The first day of the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, United States, brought confirmation for lovers of the story of toys that come to life when humans are not around: Woody will reunite with the gang again in ‘Toy Story 5’.
The revelation came through the release of the first teaser for the film, which is scheduled to premiere in theaters in 2026. In the post made on Pixar’s social media, the preview was accompanied by the caption: “Get excited for the next chapter, as Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the gang return for #ToyStory5, hitting theaters summer 2026!”. Also at the event, which is held annually to reveal the latest productions that receive the Disney seal in theaters and streaming, the director Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo) said that “Toy Story 5” will follow Bonnie’s dolls dealing with competition from electronic toys.
The idea takes shape in the concept art also released at D23, where you can see Woody, Jessie, Buzz, Forky, Bullseye, Slinky, Rex and Piggy gathered at the head of Bonnie’s bed while watching the little girl use an electronic device.
It is worth remembering that the “Toy Story” franchise appeared in 1995, directed by John Lasseter. The film, which is the first to be made entirely with CGI, Pixar’s first feature film and the studio’s first production in partnership with Walt Disney Pictures, gained three previous sequels in 1999, 2010 and 2019, as well as a spin-off “Lightyear”, from 2022.
