However, before checking out the first interactions between Joker and Harley Quinn in the film franchise adapted by Phillipsdo you know when the duo exchanged words in the comics for the first time? RECREIO tells you!

The first words

As reported by ScreenRant, the moment happens in the special one-shot “Batman: Harley Quinn #1”, from 1999, written byPaul DiniIt is Yvel Guichet. At the time, Poison Ivy finds Harley Quinn in a pile of rubble, and recognizes her as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a former psychiatrist who has recently arrived, and asks her about what happened.

The villain then vents saying that she was trying to meet Joker, and tells Hera that, after wearing her costume for the first time, she ended up interrupting a meeting between him and Penguin, where she tried everything to make a good impression, but the Clown Prince of Crime only told her that, despite recognizing her voice, he could not identify her face, marking the first interaction between the characters as Joker and Harley Quinn.

“I have the strangest feeling that we have met before. […] But I can’t identify the face,” says the character in the scene.

It is worth remembering that, before this, the two had already interacted in another situation: at Arkham Asylum. At that time, the antagonist was only the psychiatrist Harleen Quinzel and, in search of greater recognition, when the Joker arrived at the institution, he insisted that she be the one responsible for interviewing him.

However, what she least imagined was that she would end up falling deeply in love with the Clown Prince of Crime — a feeling that was never properly reciprocated, being one of the milestones in the couple’s relationship. After Joker leaves Arkham, Harleen, who was blinded by love, decides to leave everything she had and go into a life of crime in search of her beloved.
