Lady Gaga and “her feather”, the first strong and glam sensation of the Olympics

With huge pink feather pom-poms hidden at the beginning of a Parisian cabaret number, Lady Gaga opened the performances at the Paris Olympics ceremony. The American singer opened with “My thing in feathers”, a famous hit by Zizi Jeanmard, written by Jean Constantin, released in 1961.

The towering artiste, whose presence at this historic event was highly anticipated, did not disappoint, singing in French while rocking a black satin bustier with a feather-embroidered skirt and pink skirt, all by Maria Grazia Chiuri Haute Couture Dior. At the end of her performance, she removed her skirt to reveal black satin panties topped with pom-poms that formed a white feather tail.

The singer repeated this number for two months. And as Daphne Bourque, host of the four ceremonies and director of styling and costume for the Paris 2024 Games, explained to France 2, Lady Gaga found many similarities with the French singer with a sassy voice.

Its appearance highlights the know-how of French feather makers, recognized worldwide, widely used in haute couture as well as for the outfits of famous cabaret dancers such as the Moulin Rouge. Thus, this first musical interlude proves to be a performance as successful musically as it is stylistically.
