Find out when BTS member J-Hope’s long-awaited military discharge is expected to take place
In December 2022, ARMYs began a difficult period in the lives of any K-pop boy group fan: the beginning of the members’ military enlistment. That month, Jinthe oldest member, was the first to report to the Armed Forces, enlisting in the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province.
In April 2023, it was time for J-Hope begin compulsory military service in the 36th Infantry Division in Wonju City, Gangwon Province, followed by Suckswho enlisted as a civil servant in September; RM It is Vwho performed together at the Korean Army Training Center in Nonsan; and finally, Jimin It is Jungkookwho also enlisted together in the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon County.
After 18 months of service, on June 12, 2024, Jin became the first member to finally be released from his duties. Upon his long-awaited discharge, the other members made sure to ask for time off from the army and went to welcome their friend to their unit, leaving fans thrilled with the reunion.
Now, with the start of BTS’ layoff period, ARMYs are eager to welcome the remaining members. Later in 2024, J-Hope should be released — but do you know when?
J-Hope’s dismissal
Taking into account South Korea’s military laws, where men who enlist in the army must serve for 18 months, having enlisted on April 18, 2023, it is expected that J-Hope receive your discharge on October 17th.
As there are still a few months left, there is currently no information on how the idol will be released, however, fans speculate that the protocol should follow the same one adopted by Jin: without an official public ceremony and without fans in attendance, in order to avoid unrest in the military unit. BigHit Music and HYBE are expected to announce official plans closer to the date of his departure.
Meanwhile, the other members will only be dismissed in June 2025 — including Sucks who, despite being the third to begin mandatory enlistment, as he works as a public servant, has a longer period of service than the others, and will have to carry out his military obligations for around 21 months.
