With four films in the original franchise, the most recent title of ‘Despicable Me’ continues to be shown in Brazilian cinemas
The ‘Despicable Me’ feature films hold the global box office record among titles belonging to animated franchises, as the Illumination films have together grossed five billion dollars (around R$27 billion, at the current exchange rate), a number never reached by any other animated franchise, according to information released by Variety (via JovemNerd).
It is worth remembering that the franchise ‘My favorite evil‘ received its fourth film this year, premiering in Brazilian cinemas on July 4, 2024. Still in theaters, the film has already grossed US$437 million at the box office around the world.
In the new film, Gru embarks on a new mission: becoming a father to a newborn baby. After all, the newest member of the family is Gru Jr., the result of his relationship with Agent Lucy. The responsibility won’t be easy, since the little boy has inherited a bit of his father’s evil and loves to torment him, even though he is sweet with his mother and sisters Margo, Edith and Agnes.
In addition, Gru will have to protect his children and wife from Maxime Le Mal, a supervillain who, after leaving prison, joins his girlfriend Valentina to take revenge on Gru. Relive the trailer!
