Through a partnership between SM Entertainment and Kakao Entertainment America, the reality show featuring the new boy group is set to premiere later this year.
Through a partnership between SM Entertainment and Kakao Entertainment America, the BBC will broadcast the new reality series “Made in Korea: The K-pop Experience.” The program will follow five young British trainees as they undergo the process of debuting in the K-pop industry over the course of 100 days, with the goal of debuting in a new boy group on the global stage.
Joseph Changco-CEO of Kakao Entertainment, believes that the reality show will open new doors for K-pop, making more people interested in the genre:
This new venture marks the first time we have utilized the K-pop production expertise in the UK, the birthplace of pop music, to directly showcase the creation of artists and music intellectual property. It represents a significant opportunity to connect with a global audience through a reality show that charts the group’s journey and development. We are confident that this project will open a new chapter for K-pop, offering a unique entertainment experience for music enthusiasts around the world. We look forward to witnessing the debut and growth of this boy band together, with the hope that viewers will discover a new side of K-pop and fall in love with it all over again.”
In addition, the reality show’s producers involve Moon&Back Media, a company that participated in the programs “Got Talent” and “The X Factor”, the latter being responsible for forming the boy band One Direction, as well as the girl groups Little Mix and Fifth Harmony.
“Made in Korea: The K-pop Experience” will premiere later this year in the UK via BBC One and iPlayer streaming. ITV Studios will be responsible for distributing the content internationally.
