Discover the reason behind the main characteristic used to differentiate the Minions in the “Despicable Me” franchise films.
Minions are the small yellow creatures featured in “My favorite evil” (2010), who, in the Illumination and Universal Pictures franchise, play the role of comic relief for the films, after all, with their childish and impulsive attitudes, they end up getting into situations capable of making the audience laugh, no matter if they are in the movie theaters or at home.
More than that, right from the first film, it is possible to see that, despite having attributes that get them into a lot of trouble, the Minions are also very intelligent, and always find a way to solve the messes they get into.
They also speak in their own dialect — in fact, the language they speak even has a name: “Minionese”, which is nothing more than a mix of English, Spanish, French, Italian and a bit of Japanese spoken in an accelerated way — and, more than that, they are voiced by the same voice actor: Pierre Coffincreator and co-director of the original trilogy and the duo of derivatives ‘Minions’.
Although the Minions are similar to each other in both personality and physical form, there are some characteristics that distinguish them, and among them is the different number of eyes they have, as some have two eyes and others only one.
Why do Minions have a different number of eyes?
Some may theorize that the number of eyes may be different as a result of some scientific project, like when in ‘Despicable Me 2’ the Minions were transformed into Evil Minions (terrible purple monsters) with the help of the chemical element PX-41 used by the supervillain El Macho, or there are those who may believe that it was a change that arose with the evolution of the species.
However, ScreenRant claims that it’s nothing fans need to worry about. That’s because in ‘Minions’, the first spin-off of the original franchise, it’s revealed that these yellow beings evolved in the ocean of single-celled creatures, and these organisms include a selection of one-eyed specimens, along with their two-eyed brethren, so having one or two eyes is a characteristic of the Minions’ natural biology.
In addition to the eyes, the haircuts serve as another point of distinction between them, as seen in the main trio, Kevin, Stuart and Bob, where one is bald, another has hair parted in the middle and the last has spiky strands. One more detail is that, despite wearing the same blue uniform with silver binoculars, they, who are capsule-shaped, are of different sizes: short and chubby, tall and thin and medium, thus making it easier to recognize them.
