‘Despicable Me’ Kids Won’t Grow Up, Director Says

In a recent interview, Chris Renaud, director of ‘Despicable Me 4’, assured that he has no plans to mature his characters.

In a recent interview with Deadline (via Omelete), the director of the ‘Despicable Me’ franchise, Chris Renaudassured that Agnes, Edith and Margô will not age. In his speech, he says that he has no plans to expand the characters’ story until they reach puberty, or their undergraduate years:

(…) I don’t think the audience cares. First of all, to your point, we could do a story about Margo being 18 and going to college… but we took a Simpsons approach where nobody ages. They’re frozen in time. I’ve seen the movie with an audience a few times, and I don’t feel like people are coming forward and seeing that as a problem, asking, ‘Why didn’t Margo grow up?’
