Charles III’s sister was hospitalized after the incident at Gatcombe Park this Monday, June 24. He received “minor injuries and concussion”.
Faced with immediate concern, Buckingham Palace wanted to be reassuring. “His Royal Highness is recovering well, he is in good health and has been hospitalized as a precautionary measure for further tests,” reads a press release issued this Monday, June 24. The palace announced that Princess Anne had been hospitalized after an “incident” which left her with “minor injuries and concussion”. “The Princess Royal has suffered minor injuries and concussion following the incident at Gatcombe Park last night,” officials continued.

A message in which Buckingham Palace discussed the alleged circumstances of the incident. “The Princess was walking along the secure perimeter of Gatcombe Park when an incident occurred which left Her Royal Highness with minor head injuries,” palace spokespeople wrote. “While the exact cause of these injuries has not been confirmed, there were horses in the area and Her Majesty’s medical teams agree that they were the result of a possible blow to the horse’s head or leg.”

It is noted that the daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II was taken to Bristol’s Southmead Hospital. Her husband, Sir Timothy Lawrence, was by her side. Gatcombe Park, located in Gloucestershire (southwest England), is the residence of the 73-year-old princess. Her engagements scheduled for this week have been canceled on “doctor’s advice”. However, the princess is expected to return home “later this week”. King Charles III, who is currently being treated for cancer but has resumed public activity since mid-April, has been briefed, the palace said.
