NCT’s Renjun and SM Entertainment issue apology after controversies

Renjun, from NCT and the company apologized this Friday, 21st, after the leak of a random cell phone number on the Bubble app

This Friday, 21st, Renjunmember of the NCT, released an apology through Instagram related to the incident of leaking a random cell phone number on the Bubble app. The case happened after Idol threatened to expose the number of a fan who was harassing him through constant calls, but, unintentionally, he ended up publishing the contact information of a stranger on the platform.

In its publication, Renjun he writes:

I apologize to those who were affected by my reckless actions yesterday. I always wanted to bring positive energy through music and performances, but my judgment got clouded at one point and I made the wrong choice. Please stop contacting the person affected due to my reckless behavior. I deeply regret my actions and will be more careful not to act impulsively in the future. Once again, I apologize to everyone who was hurt by me. “

SM Entertainment issued a formal apology on behalf of the artist. However, the alleged victim criticized the company, saying the call was a mistake and that she wished they would communicate with her directly. Furthermore, the victim also turned to the police to investigate the matter:

It’s my fault I made a wrong call, but is it right to leak an unverified ordinary citizen’s number in such a public place? Two or three hours later, the investigator called me and said that SM’s legal team would apologize, but the apology hasn’t arrived yet. I’ve had to change my phone number and be verbally abused by strangers just because I made a wrong call and demanded a proper response.”

The number has since been deleted from the Bubble app; Check out SM Entertainment’s official statement:

“Hello, this is SM Entertainment.

On June 20, NCT member Renjun mistakenly exposed an unknown person’s phone number on a fan communication platform, believing that the number belonged to a sasaeng (fan who was harassing him). SM Entertainment would like to sincerely apologize on behalf of Renjun for this mistake and for inflicting harm on the victim.

Immediately after receiving news that the victim had visited a regional police station to inquire about the incident, SM Entertainment contacted the victim through investigators to apologize. Renjun’s profile message was also removed. We will continue our efforts to ensure there is no further harm and ask that everyone avoid contacting the victim by any means from now on.

Renjun is currently deeply reflecting on his mistake and the consequences that followed. SM Entertainment also apologizes for not taking care of our artist’s actions.

Once again, we apologize to the victim, as well as the many others who were concerned about this incident.”
