The directors admitted that they dreamed of a film adaptation of Toreadors from Vasyukivka since childhood.
Ukrainian directors Roman Krasnoshchek and Anton Chistyakov received the rights to film Vsevolod Nestaiko’s book Toreadors from Vasyukivka. One of the directors reported this on his Facebook page.
“My favorite childhood book, the first Ukrainian children’s bestseller and the best children’s book in Ukraine according to the European Commission, for the first time in 60 years, had the opportunity to live on the big screens in form of a full-length film,” Krasnoshchek wrote.
He also mentioned that Nestaiko’s trilogy instilled in him a love for cinema and influenced his choice of profession.
According to Roman, the script is currently being adapted. The producer of the upcoming film is Veronica Stepanchuk.
It is worth recalling that Toreadors from Vasyukivka is a famous work of the Ukrainian writer Vsevolod Nestaiko. It is a story consisting of three parts and is one of the most popular children’s books in Ukrainian literature.
The story tells about the incredible adventure of two friends – Yava Ren and Pavlusha Zavgorodniy, who live in the village of Vasyukivka. The boys constantly come up with various exciting ideas and find themselves in funny situations.
It was previously reported that Netflix has officially given the green light to produce a movie based on the popular TV series Peaky Blinders.
