Today, the 27th, marks two years since the 4th season of ‘Stranger Things’ debuted in the Netflix catalogue; remember these curiosities!
The 4th season of Stranger Things arrived in the Netflix catalog on May 27, 2022, that is, exactly two years ago! To celebrate this important date, check out five interesting facts about the fourth season of the series that you might not have known about!
1. Various locations
The fourth season features scenes in Hawkins, California and Russia — but they weren’t filmed exactly in those locations. To represent them, the team filmed in Atlanta, Albuquerque, Lithuania, Georgia and New Mexico.
2. Millionaire episodes
The brothers Duffer They weren’t kidding when they said this would be the greatest season of all time. According to Buzzfeed, each episode cost approximately $30 million.
3. “A villain unlike any other”
Vecna, the humanoid beast, is the great villain that terrorizes the characters in the new season. According to the producer and director Shawn Levy, because he was so important in the plot, he needed to be “a villain unlike any other”. “He needed to be more than a creature, more than an evil cloud of particles. He needed to be a humanoid villain with more depth, more dimension and much more evil. This is Vecna.”
4. Tailor-made elastics
Being set in the 80s, Stranger Things has numerous references to the time — even down to the smallest details. Hair elastics (also known as scrunchies), for example, were a huge success and could not be left out of the series. Therefore, Netflix produced tailored scrunchies for the characters in order to make all the looks match.
5. Blind test
According to the actor Jamie Campbell Bower, he got the role of Vecna through blind auditions, completely knowing nothing about his character. “They sent me two pages of script. One was for ‘The Two Faces of Murder’ and the other was for ‘Hellraiser’. Then, at the other audition, they sent me some fake scripts for the show, and that’s when I discovered a little more about the character, but not too much.”
