Check out a list of 5 K-pop tracks that originally appeared in Korean, but gained great versions in English
K-pop has been gaining more and more fans around the world, a reflection of the Hallyu wave, or Korean wave, which promoted productions from the Asian country across the globe. As a result of how global South Korean popular music has become, it is common to hear more and more tracks with lines in English, while others get versions entirely sung in the most spoken language in the world.
With that in mind, RECREIO put together a list of 5 K-pop songs that were released in English and you need to listen to them; check it out below!
1. “Cry For Me” — TWICE
On December 18, 2020, ONCEs heard ‘Cry For Me’ for the first time. Months later, on June 11, 2021, the single gained an English version, appearing as the seventh track on the physical edition of TWICE’s tenth EP, titled ‘Taste of Love’; listen!
2. “Regular” — NCT 127
‘Regular-Irregular’, the first studio album by NCT’s second unit, NCT 127, featured the group’s first song in English: ‘Regular’. The track received an MV, released on October 8, 2018.
3. “Earth, Wind & Fire” — BOYNEXTDOOR
From the EP ‘How?’, the track ‘Earth, Wind & Fire’, by BOYNEXTDOOR, had as one of the producers the soloist and member of Block B, Zico. The track reflects on the confusion of feelings one feels when one is in love, while at the same time making a statement to the loved one.
4. ‘Love Talk’ — WayV
The English version of WayV’s ”Love Talk” also became the group’s first digital single in that language. The song was released on November 5, 2019, and also included in the special album ‘Take Over the Moon — Sequel’.
5. Bad Boy — Red Velvet
Also becoming the first English version of a Red Velvet single, ‘Bad Boy’ is the bonus track from the group’s first summer mini-album, ‘Summer Magic’, released on August 6, 2018.
