Documentary tape 20 days in Mariupolaccording to statistics from the Netflix streaming platform, topped the list of the most popular films in Ukraine in the last week of April.
The documentary chronicles the first weeks of fighting in Mariupol, Donetsk region, throughout Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
The film became the highest-grossing documentary film in Ukraine in 2023, collecting 500 thousand hryvnias in the first weekend of release alone.
The film won the nomination Best Documentary British film award BAFTA. Mstislav Chernov received the Directors Guild of America Award (DGA Awards) for outstanding directorial achievements in documentary film.
The film director will be remembered 20 days in Mariupol awarded the Directors Guild of America Award.
