For the fall-winter 2024 show, this April 29 in New York, the label returns to its roots, offering an intimate show in the heart of its studio on Madison Avenue.
The King of Luxury America has chosen its offices at 650 Madison Avenue. Nothing unusual, since this is where the designer’s first women’s fashion show took place in 1972. Fifty-two years later, Ralph Lauren returns to the roots of his style in his design studio. “The woman I create for has a beauty that comes from inner confidence. She dresses for herself. Her style is individual and bold. She will wear a handmade jacket over her glamorous evening dress. She believes in a relaxed elegance that is not defined by time or trends. My collection is inspired by this woman, her sense of timelessness, her personality. »
An aesthetic of elegance and confidence embodied by stalwart supermodel Christy Turlington, who opens the show to the tunes. So as you are By Billy Joel in a buff suit, tie, tucked into trousers and matching tonal RL 888 bag. Over the decades, Lauren’s aesthetic has always asserted its independence; no trends, no styles, timeless pieces perfectly cut to last a lifetime. All in a soft palette of neutral tones.

Urban sophistication
His repertoire also evokes the perfect combination of opulent luxury and urban sophistication; a chunky cashmere cardigan over a cocktail dress, a striped jacket over a silk top, beaded and sparkly bodycon dresses for evening, a leather skirt soft enough to dance or walk in. Down Fifth Avenue, a gorgeous black double-breasted tuxedo or a chocolate jacket, tweed patchwork or velor pieces… A balance between glamor and minimalism for a natural look.
Kevin Tuchman
Ralph Lauren, 84, arrived to welcome in jeans, sneakers and a colorful western shirt, to a standing ovation from his family and a hundred guests, including Jessica Chastain, Glenn Close and Kerry Washington, who then gathered for dinner at the Polo Bar. New York’s favorite restaurant by a cult designer.
