What is the song in the trailer for ‘Joker: Delirium Two’?

Last Tuesday, the 10th, Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first full trailer for “Joker,” the sequel to the renowned 2019 film about the Clown Prince of Crime from DC Comics. The new feature film, in addition to featuring the return of Joaquin Phoenix in the main role, there will also be the participation of the singer Lady Gaga in the role of Harley Quinn.

The preview presents the first meeting between Joker and Harley Quinn, as well as the beginning of the toxic relationship between one of the most striking duos in comics. Watch!

During the trailer, it is also possible to note that music will play a very important role in the plot. At a certain point, the character of Phoenix states that “We use music to compose ourselves. To soften our internal fractures.”

In a press conference at the Venice Festival (via Rolling Stone Brasil), the composer of the soundtrack for “Coringa: Delírio à Dois”, Hildur Guðnadóttirconfirmed that the production will feature a lot of music, however, it has not yet revealed whether the film will, in fact, be a musical, as speculated internationally.

Zazie Beetzactress responsible for playing Sophie Dumond, stated in an interview with Variety in 2023 that “I think people will be surprised. I don’t think it will be what they expect, in terms of being musical. We all express ourselves musically and dance in our lives everyday. I think it will work very well.”

The newest trailer also doesn’t make it clear whether the film will be in a musical format, however, it is possible to notice the melody of a classic song playing frequently in the background of the scenes.

But what is the name of the song?

The track featured in the preview is “What The World Needs Is Love”, first released in 1965 by Jackie DeShannonwritten by Hal David. In 1971, the song was remixed by Tom Claywhich included excerpts from speeches by Martin Luther King Jr.and the president John F. Kennedy. Check out both versions!
