The only groups that debuted in 2016 and haven’t disbanded yet

In about a decade, a lot can change in K-pop. This can be observed through the groups that emerge, as many of those that debuted years ago are no longer active, transforming the formations that remain together into powerful survivors.

For example, in 2016, 51 groups made their dream debuts, but today, only eight of them continue to promote their releases in the Korean music industry, as reported by the South Korean news portal Koreaboo.

1. WJSN

WJSN, also known as Cosmic Girls, debuted in February 2016 through Starship Entertainment, with the releases of “Mo Mo Mo” and “Catch Me”.

5. PENTAGON

PENTAGON premiered on October 10, 2016, by CUBE Entertainment. In 2018, the training no longer had Dawn as one of the members, and since then the formation has consisted of 9 members: Hui, Jinho, Hongseok, Shinwon, Yanan, Yeo One, Yuto, Kino It is Wooseok.

6. SF9

SF9 was formed in 2016 by FNC Entertainment and recently released the album “THE PIECE OF9” which was accompanied by a video for the title track “Puzzle” in January 2023.

It is worth mentioning that on September 30, 2021, Seoham left the group and, a few months later, on January 13, 2022, Heejun also stopped being part of the training. Therefore, only four members currently form the KNK: Jihun, Dongwon, Inseong It is Hyunjong, and the group’s most recent release came in September 2020 with their third mini-album ‘KNK AIRLINE’ and the music video for ‘RIDE’.
