Universal Pictures acquired the rights to film the book by Mark A. Bradley. Oscar winner Cillian Murphy will play the lead role in the upcoming film.
Irish actor Cillian Murphy will star in the film Blood Rules the Coal. This was reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
It is known that the Universal film studio project is based on the 2020 book Blood Rules the Coal: The Yablonsky Murders and the Battle for the United Miners of America.
The book tells the story of the 1969 murder of Joseph “Jock” Jablonski, a coal miners union organizer who was killed at home with his wife and daughter. The killing came after Yablonsky led a campaign against a corrupt union leader and prompted a lengthy investigation that exposed shady dealings in the coal industry.
It is known that John Davis and Jordan Davis will produce the film.
