Check out some moments present in the books of the ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ franchise that need to be in the new Netflix adaptation
In the middle of last year, fans of the “Chronicles of Narnia” franchise, created by the Irish author CS Lewiswere surprised by the news that Greta Gerwiga filmmaker known for directing the live-action “Barbie”, will be responsible for directing the new adaptation of the saga, produced by Netflix.
Shortly after the announcement, during an interview with the Total Film podcast, Greta she stated that she was “scared” about leading the new production — but that this was a good sign.
“I haven’t even started to deal with the idea yet, but I’m already scared, which is a great starting point. I think being scared is always a good sign. Maybe when I stop being scared, I’ll think ‘I should do this next’. But no, I’m terrified. It’s extraordinary and exciting,” Gerwig said.
On the other hand, the CEO of Netflix, Ted Sarandospromised in an interview with Time magazine (via Omelete) that the new films “will be no different from how audiences may have imagined these worlds, but they will be bigger and bolder than they thought”.
With extremely high expectations, RECREIO separated a list of four moments from the saga that need to be in the new adaptation of “The Chronicles of Narnia”.
1. The origin of Narnia
During the first adaptations made by Disney in the 2000s, it is never mentioned how Narnia was created. The story is presented in full in the book “The Magician’s Nephew”, where, in addition to explaining the beginning of the magical world, we also understand the emergence of the famous lamp post, and the origin of Jadis, the White Queen. During the new adaptation, it would be very interesting to present to the public, even if briefly, a little of this intriguing story.
2. The story of Professor Digory Kirke

In the film released in 2005, Professor Digory Kirke appears only as a very mysterious man, owner of the house responsible for housing the Pevensies, but nothing is explained about his story. In fact, he has a great importance in the book, as he is the boy responsible for witnessing the creation of Narnia in “The Magician’s Nephew”, in addition to becoming Pedro’s tutor years later. The new adaptation has the chance to correct this error from the first adaptation, and reinforce the importance of the character in the Netflix version.
3. The reign of the Pevensie brothers
At no time do the films from the 2000s present details about what happened during the reign of Pedro, Susana, Edmundo and Lúcia — something that is presented in the books, and would be very interesting to be presented in the films, even as a post-credits scene. .

Through the pages, it is explained that the Pevensie brothers ruled gloriously for 15 years, bringing much joy and prosperity to Narnia. The period in which the four remained on the throne was so successful that it came to be known as the “Golden Age of Narnia”.
4. The ending of Pedro, Susana, Edmundo and Lúcia

In the 2000s, Disney adapted only three of the seven books in the “Chronicles of Narnia” franchise, and did not have the opportunity to present the true ending of the saga, and the different fate of each of the Pevensie brothers presented in the work “The Last Battle.” Now, Greta Gerwig and Netflix have the opportunity to present the outcome of this beautiful story to audiences who have never read the books.
