However, the information was denied by Brad Birddirector and screenwriter of the animation, during an interview with The Post.
“The funny thing is that when I was promoting the first film around the world, she was the only character that everyone was convinced was based on someone from their country,” the filmmaker revealed.
Bird also reveals that, for him, Edna has always been half Japanese and half German. According to the professional, “Both are relatively small countries that have a huge impact [e] exceptional technical products coming from them. That’s what she is: a compact person, with a huge personality and influence.”
The director’s statement, however, goes against the statement of Bryn Imagire, shading art director for “The Incredibles”. As reported by the New York Post, costume designer Edith Head was, in fact, an inspiration for Edna — mainly due to her bangs and glasses.
