23% of women in France are at risk of mental health… and it will be related to work

A raging wave of stress seems to be sweeping through the world of work, and especially among women. Almost a third of them are even considering quitting to protect their mental health. That’s what the results of the first ever barometer, conducted by teale, a start-up specializing in corporate mental health, reveal.

23%, no less. This is the proportion of French employees who are in a state of extreme mental health or at risk of depression, according to a study by teale, a platform dedicated to mental health in business, among 10,000 employees from different fields of activity. A barometer with a very gloomy result, especially for women. 32%, or a third of them, say they are considering resigning to protect their mental health.

Primary reasons: Above all, lack of respect, mentioned by 58% of respondents, but also recognition or skills development. And, therefore, the almost ubiquitous stress in the background.

When work takes up too much space

If this wave of anxiety especially affects women, it does not spare men. 15% of them, compared to 23% of women, therefore suffer from critical or at-risk mental health. Regardless of gender, nearly one in two workers report experiencing unmanageable levels of stress at work. First of all, they attribute this to the lack of necessary means to carry out their mission, as well as the excessive mental burden that spills over into their personal lives.

The key? Beyond time management, which remains a topic in itself, urgency will be at the heart of establishing the meaning, quality, but also recognition of social relationships.open space. The answers to the survey show this. employees who feel good enough to consider leaving their position emphasize alignment with their company’s values, a sense of advancement, and, more importantly, “being respected.” Which, according to teal experts, is based on basic courtesies such as saying “hello” and “thank you”, a reflex that is not always evident in writing, but above all on open communication between colleagues, between managers and supervisors and vice versa. : . The authors of the study defend the virtue of a true culture of feedback, a vector of progress, but also a sense of recognition. A seemingly obvious prerequisite, but perhaps too often buried process concerned solely with productivity.
