Find out what happened to Duloc after the sad end of the tyrant Lord Farquaad in “Shrek”
In the first film in the “Shrek” franchise, we meet the region of Duloc, commanded by the authoritarian Lord Farquaad, who dreams of increasing his domain, and marrying a princess so that she can transform the place into a kingdom — making that, in the future, he will have the chance to become king.
To try to make his plan come true, he holds a tournament to find a knight who would be able to rescue Princess Fiona from the tower in which she was trapped, which was protected by a fearsome dragon. Shrek, an ogre, ends up completing the challenge and, as the plot progresses, falls in love with the girl.
Despite fulfilling the deal and handing Fiona over to the Lord, during the wedding ceremony, the princess reveals that she is an ogress and, in the middle of the battle, Farquaad ends up being swallowed by the dragon. With the end of the dictator, a big question arose in fans’ minds: after all, how has Duloc been since then?
Abandonment
As reported by the portal ScreenRant, the answer to this question appears in the Halloween television special “Scared Shrekless” (‘Scared Shrek’, in Portuguese), released in 2010. The production, which is set after the events of “Shrek for Always”, reveals Duloc, completely abandoned, and very different from the one presented in the 2001 film.
The place, which was described as “a special place”, became completely scary, even having a warning for visitors to leave.
As Lord Farquaad had no children to inherit the region, after his death it is possible that Duloc was returned to the king, and forgotten by the monarch. However, if the nobleman had succeeded in his plan in “Shrek”, there were high chances that the place would actually become a kingdom and experience days of prosperity, putting the description of “perfect place” into practice.
