Netflix will present a play about Putin on Broadway

Streaming service Netflix is ​​preparing a Broadway production of “The Patriots” about Russian President Vladimir Putin from “The Crown” series creator Peter Morgan. It is reported by different types.

The play is set in 1991 after the fall of the Soviet Union and tells the story of Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky, the billionaire who helped Vladimir Putin rise to power. Later, he became a bitter critic of the Russian president and died in 2013 in London under unclear circumstances.

Putin will be played on stage by Will Keene, and Berezovsky by Michael Stuhlbarg, known for the films “The Shape of Water,” “Men in Black 3” and “Arrival.” Another Russian oligarch, Roman Abramovich, will be played by Luke Tellon.

The New York premiere is scheduled for April 22, 2024. The play will run at the Ethel Barrymore Theater for 12 weeks.
