What are the characteristics of each district?

With twelve districts dictatorially commanded by the Capital and one independent district, discover the characteristics of each Hunger Games district

In the “Hunger Games” franchise, all the events read in the books Suzanne Collins and seen in the film adaptations take place in one place: Panem! The fictional country has twelve districts commanded dictatorially by the Capital and one independent district, yet all of them are responsible for producing some element that guarantees the functioning of their homeland.

With this in mind, RECREIO brought together the characteristics of each district below, in order to understand the roles they play in Panem. Look!

District 13

Among the districts, there is a belief that District 13 had been destroyed by the Capital during the First Uprising. However, what actually happened was a deal, as in addition to graphite mining, they were responsible for Panem’s nuclear technology. Therefore, the capital was afraid of being defeated by them during the rebellion, since the district’s military power was superior to that of the Capital.

In this way, all the inhabitants of District 13 begin to live in the location’s underground facilities, acting in the shadows as an independent nation until they emerge as important figures for the latest rebellion.

Lucy Gray Baird’s House (Rachel Zegler), from “The Hunger Games – A Song of Birds and Snakes”, and Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson), Kat niss ever deen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) from the original quadrilogy, District 12, known for the country’s coal mining, is the smallest and poorest district in Panem.

The district was bombed after the events of “The Hunger Games – Catching Fire”, causing most of the local inhabitants to die. Still, after the last uprising, the coal mine was closed and the district began producing medicine.

District 11

District 11 was home to Rue, the little girl murdered in the 74th Hunger Games, who saved Katniss’ life in the franchise’s first title. The place was also one of the poorest in Panem, as well as being responsible for the country’s agriculture, as the land was covered by orchards, crop fields and livestock farms.

District 10

Panem’s livestock industry was based in District 10. All of the country’s meat came from this place, as they raised the animals that would serve as protein for the inhabitants.

District 9

District 9 produces grain. There aren’t many details about the place, but it is known that Sheaf and Panlo are the tributes that competed in the 10th Hunger Games.

District 8

The textile industry was in charge of District 8. They had several factories to transform fibers into threads, threads into fabrics and fabrics into clothing, with one of their jobs being to make the Peacekeepers’ uniforms.

Johanna Mason (Jena Malone) was responsible for representing District 7 in the cruel quarter-year massacre. At the time, she wielded the weapon that symbolizes the place: an axe, since District 7 supplied Panem with wood, as the city was surrounded by trees.

District 6

The industry that represented District 6 was transportation. They represented the hub of the transportation network for all of Panem.

District 5

District 5 took care of Panem’s electricity, with one of its highlights being the hydroelectric dam that became a target of the rebels in “Hope”, as the group wanted to cut off the Capital’s power.

Panem’s technology was developed in District 3, the place that created the country’s electronic equipment, such as televisions, computers and others, and housed minds like Beetee’s (Jeffrey Wright), tribute seen at the 75th Hunger Games.

District 2

District 2 was one of the largest in Panem, in addition to being home to the upper class, thus having a good relationship with the Capital. They were known for their masonry and weapons making, as well as having served as a training site for the Peacekeepers.

District 1

The Capital’s luxury items all came from District 1, as they were known for their craftsmanship.

Like Districts 2 and 4, District 1 was home to some of Panem’s wealthiest citizens, and was home to great Careers, that is, the tributes who became elite warriors, as they trained for years before competing in the Games. Voracious, using the wealth and status they possessed to gain prominence in the competition, and often, win it.
