The decision to create the series comes less than a week after Margrethe stepped down and decided to pass the throne to her 55-year-old son, King Frederick X.
A series will be made about the former Queen of Denmark, Margrethe II. It will be dedicated to his life and reign. The Guardian reported this.
The series, originally titled “Af Guds nåde” (By God’s Grace), was developed by Borgen-based Sam Productions and the Danish television channel TV2.
The series takes place at Amalienborg Palace, the official royal residence in Copenhagen, beginning with Margrethe’s birth in 1940.
It will tell about the reign of Margrethe II from the perspective of members of the royal family, as well as employees of the royal court. The producers and directors of the project plan to fulfill the purpose of the film – to show the royal family from the good and bad sides.
“Whether you are royalty or whoever, and however you say it, she is of great importance to us as a people, to our little circle, and also to the whole world. The little princess should not be queen, but “Life took a different direction – and she became a great queen. It’s time to tell an amazing story that can give us insight we didn’t have before,” said series executive producer Meta Louise Foldager Sørensen.
It was previously reported that Netflix has published a trailer for the second part of the sixth season of the cult series The Crown.
