Justin Russo’s actor in ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’, David Henrie, commented on the revival of the series, which was confirmed yesterday
Minutes after the announcement of the production of the sequel to “Wizards of Waverly Place”, David Henrie (Justin Russo) published a photo of the printed script for the plot on his Instagram profile. It is worth noting that he and Selena Gomez are credited as executive producers of the spin-off.
The Russos are excited to be part of their family again, but we’ve grown up. 2024, the year magic returns!”, wrote Henrie.
“Wizards of Waverly Place”, a series starring Selena Gomez, aired from 2007 to 2012, on Disney Channel. The production has more than 100 episodes, divided into 4 seasons and two films, namely: “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie” (2009) and “Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex” (2013).
According to the website Deadline, Disney has approved the start of recording for the sequel’s pilot. Furthermore, the synopsis released by the website reveals that Justin Russo will be the protagonist of the new version and Alex Russo (Selena Gomez) will make a special appearance.
‘That’s So Raven’ got a sequel
This isn’t the first time Disney has planned to revive a Disney Channel series. In addition to “Wizards of Waverly Place”, in 2017, the network launched “Raven’s House”, a continuation of the classic “That’s So Raven” (2003-2007).
“That’s So Raven”, starring Raven-Symoné, followed teenage Raven, who had the gift of predicting the future. However, her visions were not contextualized, which made the character get involved in comical and unexpected adventures with her friends.
The production, which has six complete seasons, did not work out so well. There was an attempt to do the same with “Lizzie McGuire” (2001-2004), however, the project was discarded as being considered “too adult” by Disney executives.
