Apple TV+ premiered this Wednesday, January 17, the trailer for the series, which focuses on the rivalry between two stylists during the 1940s.
“Parisian haute couture… It can affect the way you dream, the way you live.” These are the words of the trailer New look, introduced this Wednesday, January 17 by Apple TV +. Todd A. Kessler’s series, which chronicles the rivalry between Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche) and Christian Dior (Ben Mendelsohn), the latter’s meteoric rise, and the way both creators survived the horrors of World War II. Set to launch on February 14 on the platform, the project also addresses the mark the duo has left, like their contemporaries Pierre Balmain, Hubert de Givenchy, Lucien Lelong and Cristóbal Balenciaga, on contemporary fashion.
Wind of freedom
“Fashion needs a new leader, a figure,” we hear in the trailer. A hero whom the fashion world will find in the person of Christian Dior. The latter’s wish. “Photographing the most amazing women’s clothing the earth has ever known.” Coco Chanel doesn’t see it that way. “Christian Dior destroyed haute couture and Coco Chanel was reborn to save it,” he says in this trailer. The beginning of a style revolution that will allow people to “feel alive again”. And the end of the war, which will blow a wind of freedom over France and the world of fashion.
