The Golden Globes reached their 81st edition last Sunday, 7th, where several artists gathered at the awards ceremony that honors the main works of cinema and television released over the last year, to receive the much-desired golden statuette and celebrate the victories of their professional colleagues.
Among the event’s highlighted categories is the one that awards the title of ‘Best Animated Film’, which in this one, brought “Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse”, “Suzume”, “Super Mario Bros.: The Movie”, “Elements” and “Wish: The Power of Wishes”, as competitors for the prize given to Studio Ghibli’s most recent animation: “The Boy and the Crane”.
With this in mind, RECREIO has put together the list below, where to watch all the animations nominated for the Golden Globe. Look:
The Boy and the Crane
Starting with the winner of the night, “The Boy and the Crane”, by director Hayao Miyazaki (known for creating stories such as “Spirited Away” and “My Friend Totoro”) premiered in Japanese cinema in June last year, arriving in theaters in the United States and Canada on December 8, 2023.
In Brazil, the production should start showing in March this year, according to information released by CNN.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

In Brazil, the direct continuation of 2019’s “Spider-Man into the Aranhaverse”: “Spider-Man: Through the Aranhaverse”, arrived in theaters on June 1, 2023. The plot is now available on streaming and can be seen by Prime Video or HBO Max subscribers.
The film has the following synopsis: “Miles returns for a new chapter in this award-winning saga where he must reevaluate what it means to be a hero when he is forced to face an entire team of spider-heroes tasked with protecting the very existence of the Multiverse.”
Suzume

The feature film by Makoto Shinkai premiered on April 13, 2022 in Brazil, and is now available in the Crunchyroll catalog.
The synopsis released by the streaming platform says:
“On the other side of the door, there was time in her entire existence… 17-year-old Suzume’s journey begins in the quiet town of Kyushu when she meets a young man who tells her the following: “I’m looking for a door.” What Suzume finds is a single worn-out door standing amidst ruins, as if protected from any catastrophe. Apparently mesmerized by its power, Suzume reaches for the handle… Doors begin to open all over Japan, causing destruction to anyone who is near them. Suzume needs to close these portals to prevent the disaster from spreading.

Super Mario Bros.: The Movie

“Super Mario Bros.: The Movie” went into theaters on April 5, 2023, and can now be purchased or rented on Google Play, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube. The purchase price is R$49.90, while to rent, fans must pay R$14.90, on both platforms.
Elements

From the Disney“Elements”, hit national screens on June 15, 2023. Just under three months later, on September 13, the film directed by Peter Sohn has been added to Disney+.
The synopsis says: “In a city where the inhabitants of fire, water, earth and air coexist, a fiery young woman and a boy who lives with the flow discover something surprising, yet elementary: how much they have in common.”
Wish: The Power of Wishes

Released in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of The Walt Disney Company, “Wish: The Power of Wishes” is currently showing in Brazilian cinemas, having premiered on January 4th.
The story follows Asha, a young resident of the magical kingdom of Rosas, who, after making a powerful wish, has her request granted by a cosmic force called Star. Together, Asha and Star will face the big villain of the animation: the ruler of Rosas, Rei Magnifico.
