In the Gomel region of Belarus, 40 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, a new military camp is being built. The Belarusian service of Radio Liberty reported this on January 8.
It was noted that the first phase of construction should be completed by March 2024. The town is being built on the territory of several former children’s camps.

As Ukrainian military expert Oleg Zhdanov said in a commentary on Radio Liberty, most likely, a garrison will be placed in the new military camp, whose tasks will include covering the state border.
“But if the political unification of Belarus and Russia takes place, then the doctrine will change to the offensive. Then it will become a military base for the attack,” said Zhdanov.
