Singer RM revealed in a recent interview how important the help of his fans was in the beginning of the group BTS’ career.
In an interview released by ARCHIVE-K, RM, a member of BTS, stated that the group was well treated at their first Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) due to their fans, the ARMYS. Although the interview was carried out in 2021, its publication is recent and features six of the seven members of the boy group. Suga did not participate due to shoulder surgery.
The artists recalled their journey of success, including the 2017 awards. That was the first time they had been nominated at an American awards show. Furthermore, BTS won the “Top Social Artist” award, setting a unique record, as, Justin bieber was competing in the same category and lost to the group.
RM remembers the 2017 BBMAs
According to RM, the moment the group stepped onto the red carpet at the awards ceremony, they were greeted by the applause of around four hundred fans, who were gathered at the venue. The noise attracted people’s attention to BTS, treating them “with care” due to the huge fan base there.
They actually treated us a little better. I was very, very scared when I went to the red carpet for the first event. Thanks to the ARMYs who came there, I felt very, very relieved,” recalled RM.
Still according to RM, the presence of ARMYS sparked the interviewers’ curiosity to find out more about BTS. Since, they were surprised by the number of fans of the group. The information is from the Koreaboo website.
