1. Puss in Boots 2: The Last Order

“Puss in Boots 2: The Last Order” opened in national cinemas on January 5, 2023, following the swordsman cat, who appeared in the “Shrek” franchise and gained his own solo adventures, facing the consequences of a life of daring, as these lead the cat to go after the wishing star to get lost time back.

The second Puss in Boots film is available on Telecine with the following synopsis: “The most fearless and beloved feline swordsman and milk lover, Puss in Boots, is back in a new adventure in the Shrek universe. He discovers that his passion for adventure has taken its toll, for because of his taste for danger and disregard for his safety, he has burned eight of his nine lives, although he has lost count along the way.”

2. The Little Mermaid

On May 25, 2023, “The Little Mermaid” started to be shown on the big screen. The film, which is the most recent adaptation of the short story written by Hans Christian Andersenfollows the same plot as the 1989 animation released by Disney, with some changes in the narrative to modernize the story starring Halle Bailey.

The plot is now available in the Disney+ catalog with the following synopsis: “In this revamped version of the beloved story, the curious mermaid Ariel decides to emerge from the depths and discover life on dry land, contrary to the advice of her friend. 3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

One of the most anticipated releases by Marvel fans in 2023 was “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”. This is because the film, which premiered on May 4, 2023, brought an exciting ending to the adventures that the heroes lived together across the galaxy during the last years of the MCU.

The film is now available on Disney+ and has the following synopsis: “In Marvel Studios’ ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3’, our misfits are adjusting to life in Knowhere. But it’s not long before echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past get in the way. 4. Barbie

One of the biggest surprises of 2023 was “Barbie”! The film, directed by Greta Gerwighe brought Margot Robbie as Barbie, to present a story full of social and existentialist criticism in a comical way, as the protagonist of the story has a crisis and leaves Barbieland to live in the real world in an attempt to discover who she really is.

Released on July 20 in Brazilian cinemas, the film grossed more than US$1.4 billion at the box office around the world. The title is now available on HBO Max.

5. The Hunger Games – The Song of Birds and Snakes

The prequel to The Hunger Games, “The Song of Birds and Snakes”, was also a pleasant surprise in 2023. The plot, which premiered on November 15, is set 64 years before the events starring Katniss Evedeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and is responsible for presenting the youth of the tyrannical President Snow, who this time is played by Tom Blyth.

Extra 1: Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse

The sequel to ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ (2018) sees Miles and Gwen Stacy’s relationship turn into love while following the tedious journey through five different universes while dealing with a conflict with Miguel O’Hara, the Man -Spider 2099, and leader of the versions of the neighborhood friend across the multiverse.

Extra 2: Wonka

Derived from the story of the British author Roald Dahl titled “Charlie and Chocolate Factory”, the live-action starring Timothée Chalamet“Wonka”, follows Willy Wonka’s first steps as a chocolatier.

The plot premiered on December 7, 2023, and in addition to the origins of the owner of the most magical chocolate factory ever created, it shows how the Oompa-Loompas became part of the trajectory of the most famous chocolate aficionado in cinema.
