This week, a guest on France 5’s C l’hebdo program, Johnny Hallyday’s widow spoke about the void left by the rocker’s disappearance.
On 5 December 2017, Johnnie Halliday died at the age of 74 at his home in Marnes-la-Coquette after a battle with lung cancer. Six years have passed since that day, and even if they say that time always heals wounds, his widow, Leticia, is still struggling to turn the page. This Saturday, December 16, on the set of “C l’hebdo”, journalist Oreli Casse wanted to know more about the sentimental life of the rocker’s fourth wife. “Can you still love?” the host asks. “It’s very complicated,” admits Letitia Halliday, her eyes misty. It’s hard to love without guilt. I must learn to live, to love without guilt. Without feeling like you’re cheating on the one you love or the love of your life because you’re living in guilt. The sin that is in me, with which I have to live and move forward. I have to get out of this shelter. Because Johnny remains a refuge for me.
Letitia Halliday took the opportunity to look back on her meeting with the famous translator Desire, in Miami in March 1995. At that time, she was barely 20 years old and suffered from anorexia. The singer suffers and drowns his neuroses in alcohol. “I met a damaged man like me, with flaws, fragility, also this fear of love, fear of loving, of loving himself,” confides the 48-year-old French woman, still very emotional. We met, we ran away.”

“I was very obedient to my husband”
Despite all the love she still has for her late husband, Letitia Halliday confirms: “I owned him,” she whispers on set. I was very obedient to my husband because it was my choice and I did not marry an ordinary man. It’s a different generation and it was my life and I don’t regret anything. But yes, there were difficult parts… but it strengthened our love. Today it is true that it is not easy to fall in love again. Besides, I fake all my love stories because I live with this guilt. I’m working on it one step at a time.” An answer that partially confirms her separation from director Jalil Lespert, her companion since 2020.
“Six Years of Silence”
In C l’hebdo, Letitia Halliday also took the opportunity to address David Halliday, who recently released his autobiography. Best album. In this book, he talks about his half-sisters, Jade and Jo, the two adopted daughters of Johnny and Leticia Halliday. “I would like to be sure what kind of love I have for them, and which is not principled love,” he specifically wrote. “My door is open to them. If they want one day, I will be by their side. Children are not responsible for the actions of their parents. Jade and Joy are my full sisters without the slightest nuance.
When asked to respond, Leticia Halliday did not hide her bitterness towards David Halliday. “It’s very exciting to hear him say that because we haven’t heard from him in six years. And Jade and Joy suffer a lot. Six years without news. Six years of unfulfilled promises. Six years… silence, abandonment. It is difficult. So, you can say things on TV, but not being responsible for your actions in life is a bit difficult. On this long journey of mourning, they felt lonely not to be accompanied by their big brother and big sister.
