Released in 2010 and 2013, the ‘Percy Jackson’ films were not well received by fans and the author of the franchise himself
In 2010 and 2013, the first adaptations of Percy Jackson, a universe created by the author, arrived in cinemas Rick Riordan: “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief” and “Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters”, starring Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson), Brandon T. Jackson (Grover Underwood) and Alexandra Daddario (Annabeth Chase).
However, despite being highly anticipated adaptations by fans, the two features were not well received by admirers, and by the creator himself, who was not involved in the production of the films.
In fact, through a publication on Goodreads (via ScreenRant), Rick revealed some damage that the productions caused to his family, responsible for generating a certain fear for the series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”, a new adaptation of his books, produced by Disney+.
Second RiordanToday, their children show little interest in the new version because they remember how the two films left their parents completely devastated, taking into account that many things presented in the books were changed or discarded from the cinematographic works.
For this reason, the writer states that, when he announced the Disney+ adaptation, his children questioned him about the reason for carrying out a new production, after the traumatic experience the first time.
“My kids aren’t interested at all. They’ve lived through all the pain and disappointment in the movies, so their main concern is with me and Becky [sua esposa],” said Rick. “They don’t want this experience to crush us emotionally. They don’t quite understand why we did this to ourselves, as it wasn’t absolutely necessary and they have no interest in the program. On the bright side, the process hasn’t crushed us yet! The program looks good and we learned a lot, a lot. It’s not how I imagined spending my time over the last few years, but I hope it’s worth it if viewers enjoy the show.”

Through his official blog, the writer has already made numerous publications praising the new production, in addition to declaring that he is looking forward to the series.
The official synopsis for “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” reads: “The fantastic story of a modern-day 12-year-old demigod, Percy Jackson, who is just beginning to come to terms with his supernatural powers when Zeus accuses him of stealing his lightning bolt.
