Jennifer Hudson joined the exclusive group of EGOT winners at the Tony Awards on Sunday.
To reach the EGOT level, you must win all four American Entertainment Awards (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony).
The singer-songwriter and producer, who won Emmy, Grammy and Oscar, became the 17th member of the EGOT Honorary Title after “Strange Loop” became the owner of Best New Musical.
Hudson also made history as the third black EGOT winner to receive a crown and the fifth woman to receive an award.
“Strange Loop,” produced by Hudson, was the show nominated for the Tone of the Year award, winning 11 nominations.
The musical follows “a young actor who struggles with desires, identity and natural love and he hates at the same time,” the production summary says.
The Heath Broadway show boasts more than 40 producers, including Hudson, Don Cheadle, Billy Porter, Alan Cumming, Ilana Glazer, Mindy Calling and Rupol Charles.
Hudson has already won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress for her role as “Baby Yaga,” the Grammy Awards for “The Color Purple” and her debut studio album and the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in “Dreamgirls.” .
