The script for the comedy film is ready, filming will start next year. The budget will be less than $1 million.
Director Charles Band, known for making quick and cheap films, announced a film called Barbenheimer. This was reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
The filmmaker says his upcoming feature is a blatant attempt to capitalize on the success of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, but it’s also a good chance to have fun by combining two very different films.
“It’s 100 percent true. But it’s also an opportunity to enjoy the amazing combination of the two films and combine the gentle world of Barbie with the despair of Oppenheimer. If you mix it all, you’ll have a great opportunity to show the delights of black humor,” Band commented on his upcoming film.
It is known that Barbenheimer will tell the story of Dr. Bambi J. Barbenheimer, a genius doll scientist who leaves Dolltopia (the world of endless summer and beach parties) and her boyfriend Twink Dollman for the real world, after learning about the abuse of dolls by child. When he sees this cruelty with his own eyes, he redirects all his anger at work and decides to create a nuclear bomb to destroy them.
It was previously reported that the American adventure fantasy comedy directed by Greta Gerwig has become the highest-grossing film of 2023.
