How to spot weak burn signals?

Patrick Legeron, a psychiatrist and co-author of the National Academy of Medicine’s Burnout Report (2016), cautions against the fact that women are more vulnerable to burnout.

Ms. Figaro: Are women more vulnerable? burning ?
Patrick Legeron (1). My answer is yes. However, gender is often associated with profession. On the one hand, many of those in the least rewarding positions experience a lack of recognition at work, which is a significant risk factor. On the other hand, those in positions of responsibility are more likely than men to prove that they are ready to carry out the tasks. Hence considerable cognitive pressure.

Pressure itself is related to internal load.
Women are indeed subject to this dual stress of work and personal life, two pressures that reinforce each other rather than add up. The feeling of being faced with multiple tasks that we cannot always fully master is one of the main sources of this mental overload.

Are they burning out because they don’t consult fast enough?
Many people are slow to worry or take care of the manifestations of “hyperstress”, which, if not treated in time, risks turning into serious burnout. For men, it’s often a form of denial when faced with signs of stress that feels like an admission of weakness. Taking care of oneself is often seen as a selfish act among women. so they slowly relieve or prescribe for them (1).

* Only 30% of women admit to listening to their body’s signals, according to a survey conducted by the Agir pour le cœur des femmes foundation.
