The short film celebrating Disney’s 100th anniversary featured all of the studio’s characters, including those forgotten by the public
This Monday, the 16th, Walt Disney Animation Studios celebrates 100 years of existence! And to celebrate this century, the studio created a short film, entitled “Once upon a Studio”, which brought together its more than 500 characters for a photo, which generated an iconic crossover in the world of animation. The production is now available on Disney+. Remember the trailer:
The short features all the characters ever created by Disney, that is, even films forgotten by the public were represented by their protagonists at this meeting. Because of this, RECREIO brought some of these forgotten animations that were present in the special 100th anniversary production of the house of Mickey Mouse. Check out!
1. Bernardo and Bianca
Released in 1977, “Bernardo and Bianca” tells the story of two mice who are members of the Rescue Society. They are assigned to help Penny, an orphan girl, escape the clutches of Madame Medusa, who wants to use the girl to retrieve a diamond.
In “Once Upon a Studio”, Bernardo and Bianca appear flying on Orville’s back. In addition to them, it is possible to see two characters from the second mouse film, entitled “Bernardo and Bianca: In the Land of Kangaroos”: Cody and the lizard Joanna.
2. The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad

A forgotten Disney film that marked Disney’s 100th anniversary special short with several characters is “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad”. In the production we can see the Headless Horseman, Ichabod Crane, Mr. Toad and Angus MacBadger.
The film was released in 1949 and is a combination and adaptation of two classic stories from American literature. In “The Wind in the Willows”, we see a car race with Mr. Toad and his friends and “The Legend of the Headless Horseman”, we follow Ichabod Crane trying to win over the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel.
3. The Dog and the Fox

Despite appearing briefly in “Once Upon a Studio”, Disney fans were able to see Tod and Cooper together again. The two are protagonists of the animation “The Dog and the Fox”, which was released in 1981.
The film tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a little fox and a hound puppy. They promise to be best friends forever, but things change when Cooper actually becomes a hunting dog.
4. Oliver and His Gang

“Oliver and His Gang” was released in 1988 and shows Oliver the cat trying to survive in New York. And to achieve this, he joins a group of dogs that live on the street led by a stray called Smart. In the Disney short celebrating a century, we can see Smart taking a car ride with Vanellope von Schweetz, the racing princess from “Wreck-It Ralph”.
5. My Friend the Dragon

At a certain point in “Once Upon a Studio” we see a large green dragon flying through the floors of the building in which the animation is taking place. This is Elliott, protagonist of the film “My Friend the Dragon”, released in 1977.
The film is a mix of live-action and animation and tells the story of orphan Pete and his best friend Elliott, an invisible green dragon. The two end up going to a fishing village when they run away from their cruel guardians. It’s worth remembering that in 2016 Disney made a live-action version of the story, this time without mixing it with animation, just with special effects.
