On this Children’s Day, remember some games that, in addition to being super fun, also stimulate different types of intelligence
This Thursday, the 12th, we celebrate Children’s Day, and to celebrate this special day, Dr. Fernando Gomesneurosurgeon and neuroscientist at Hospital das Clínicas de SP, brought a very special tip: go back to the times of old games and understand how they can stimulate the most diverse types of intelligence.
“When we compare hopscotch, tag, odd or even, cordless telephone, among others, with the current world that is much more online, we are able to assess how much the current world of screens compromises brain development”, warns the doctor.
Some games, in addition to being very simple, easy to produce and play, can help in the education of children and each of them stimulates a specific type of intelligence and mental skills. Check out:
1. Stop, cordless telephone or tongue twister
Here linguistic intelligence and communication are stimulated to enhance school subjects such as Portuguese and English.
2. What, what is it?, Rock, paper and scissors, odd or even and tic-tac-toe
They promote logical, mathematical intelligence and improve math skills.
3. Hide and seek or marble
Everything that encompasses spatial intelligence, those that involve the notion of space, improves knowledge for riding a bicycle and even driving in the future, since deep structures of the brain, such as the cerebellum and basal ganglia, are used in these games.
4. Tin leg, playing hopscotch, cat bed, jumping rope, elastic band, riding a roller cart or tag
As moving with the physical body awakens motor skills, kinesthetic bodily intelligence is worked on in these games which, in addition, burn calories and can be a good introduction to sport.

Stimulate emotional intelligence.
6. Collect stickers
Memory, attention and other social skills are healthily stimulated with this habit that activates the pleasure circuit.
