The big Hollywood studios already know which films will be a priority for resuming work after the end of the actors’ strike
Hollywood was marked in 2023 not because of its productions, but because of the strikes. Both screenwriters and actors stopped all activities to protest for improvements in their work. In fact, the writers’ strike, which lasted 148 days, was officially ended last Monday, the 9th, after the category’s union, the WGA, ratified a new agreement with the studios.
Although the actors are still on strike and there is no forecast for the end of the strikes, the main Hollywood studios already know which projects will be priorities when it comes to resuming work. According to information from TheWrap (via Omelete), the films that are priorities are: Deadpool 3, Captain America: Brave New World, Beetlejuice 2 and Mission: Impossible 8.
According to the vehicle, this list of films will only be fully defined after negotiations with SAG, the actors’ union. One factor that can make a certain production a priority are the names involved in the project, which can be both actors and directors.
There will be negotiations between studios for all levels of talent about which films will be made or promoted first. It will be a full negotiation session,” a senior distribution executive told TheWrap.
Some sources also told the North American website that the first films that will be resumed, after the end of the actors’ strike, will be those that require small reshoots, such as “Kraven: The Hunter”. Soon after, the films that have almost completed filming, as is the case with Beetlejuice 2, must be resumed.
The immediate priority for all studios is to get films that were shut down mid-production back up and running,” an agent explained to TheWrap.
It is worth remembering that in addition to not being able to produce any film project, actors cannot publicize any of their work on their social networks, much less participate in publicity events.
