It was created early in his career, around 1628, when the artist was only about 22 years old.

Study of painting Worship of Kings it was shown that it was painted by the famous painter Rembrandt. However, the work was ignored by the public and specialists, which is why it was previously sold for $15,000 instead of the actual $18 million, writes CNN.

The painting was originally acquired by Dutch collector Johannes Heldring in Amsterdam in 1955. It changed hands over the years and was auctioned at Christie’s in Amsterdam two years ago.

Sotheby’s has now decided Worship of Kings is truly an authentic work by Rembrandt himself.

It is believed to have been created early in his career, around 1628, when the artist was only about 22 years old and living in the Dutch city of Leiden. Today the painting is estimated at between 12.2 and 18.3 million dollars. This discovery was nothing short of a sensation, as most of Rembrandt’s works are kept in museums around the world. Additionally, most paintings that have appeared at auction in recent decades are portraits or sketches of specific characters. The Adoration of the Kings stands out, depicting the meeting of the three wise men with the baby Jesus,” added George Gordon, co-chairman of Sotheby’s Old Master Paintings Worldwide.

We remind you that a rare chemical compound was previously discovered in a Rembrandt painting.
