The anime that adapts Scott Pilgrim’s comic promises to be impressive! This is because the co-creator and co-writer BenDavid Grabinskirevealed in an interview with Empire (via Jovem Nerd), that if the production became a live-action film, it would be the “most expensive of all time”, in addition to that it would have to be recorded for an entire decade.
There is a long fight sequence in episodes 2 and 3 that, if it were a live-action film, would cost more than Avatar (2009). It would be unbelievably big. But we don’t need to think that way. We are not limited [a isso]. If you made a live-action movie of the series we did, I think it would be the most expensive movie ever, and you would shoot it for ten years.”
Furthermore, he revealed that there is no right order to follow the titles of the franchise, which includes, in addition to the HQ created by Bryan Lee O’Malleya film directed by Edgar Wrightwhich hit theaters in 2010, featuring Michael Cera in the lead role.
In the same way as Edgar [Wright] I respected comics so much, I want everyone [os formatos de Scott Pilgrim] talk to each other. You can watch the movie and then read the books, you can read the books and watch the movie, you can watch our show, then play games, then read the comics and then watch the movie. The order doesn’t really matter – they all feed off each other.”
The cast of the film released thirteen years ago returns to voice the characters, with Michael Cera like Scott Pilgrim, Kieran Culkin like Wallace Wells, Chris Evans like Lucas Lee, Brie Larson like Envy Adams and many others.
The Scott Pilgrim anime will be released on November 17th directly in the Netflix catalog.
