Some theories on the internet point to a possible kinship between the protagonists of the films in the Hunger Games universe.

The director of the film, Francis Lawrence, who was also in charge of the Hunger Games films, commented on the theories of the connection between Lucy and Katniss in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. The filmmaker neither stated nor denied the connection between the characters, but ended up provoking another theory: the possibility that another character present in the prequel could be related to Katniss.

One of them is that Lucy could be the mother of Coin, who was the president of District 13 and became one of the antagonists of the main saga. However, it is almost certain that Snow’s family and past will be well explored during the new film.
