1. Various stage names
Namjoon emerged as an underground rapper who tried to launch his career under several names, some of which were wide, The Nexist, Stealo and the best known among them, Run Randaas the Koreaboo portal explains.
In fact, the idol explained his choice of Run Randa in the first episode of the ‘BTSxMaplestory’ series, a collaboration between BTS and the Maplestory gaming platform on YouTube. At the time, he said that the name came up in 2007 because of Maplestory:
I shared a MapleStory account with a friend,” he said. “And the character’s name was Runch Randa… I was thinking of a name and just went with it.”
Although it was not as widely known as it is today, under Run Randathe idol even managed to perform alongside Zicofrom Block B, as reported by the Letras portal.
However, the name changed when he joined BTS in 2023, as in the group he was known as Rap Monster (Rap Monster), a stage name that remained until 2017, when he decided to shorten it to RMalso changing the meaning to Real Me, as it coincided better with the moment in his career.
