A powerful new video is calling on Americans to call for gun control measures amid a wave of mass shootings in American schools.
Eleven Films, the Oregon -based production company that made the video, called the YouTube title “Warning: This Video Will Change You.” It shows the result of school shootings that took place more than two decades ago, as well as shocking comments from enthusiastic parents as well as presidents, athletes, cheerleaders and media figures.
“It’s not a movie,” the text on the screen said. “This is real life.”
Other text in the video also states that guns are the leading cause of death among American children, who have survived traffic, drug and cancer accidents.
“No more thinking and praying”, reads the text at the end. “Only action can save our children. “Only real arms reform can restore America’s future.”
Video, installed on the instrumental track “Awakening of Awakening”, was seen on Twitter nearly 750,000 times in the first 12 hours:
Social media users said they cried over the video and responded with a call to action:
We need to complicate gun ownership and childhood in America. #wake uppic.twitter.com/hjNzTffsBK

#wake up
I’m crying, I’m done dying with babies, I’m done with the NRA having such an impact on our Congress. It must be completed. https://t.co/G8HPjv1G0g– Lisa Wright (@ Lisawri18498397) June 1, 2022
Look at it … no matter how hard it is. So share. And bring your anger and pain to the polling booth.
I have always used a gun and own several guns. I live in a community of ammunition / gun makers. These hunts must stop: it’s time for a real change. https://t.co/6PW2TINIKl

I want to have the strength to announce this trend every day on all social networks. Thanks @Eleven_Films To do this. Hopefully I’ll start watching it in prime time on popular TV shows and NFL games. I would have helped make this happen. https://t.co/Sat0hs1mYn

Thoughts and prayers are not enough.
Not even close.

It’s time to act.

ito! By 2022, more children will be killed in the United States than police officers on duty. https://t.co/2xdCdbFcCI

If you love your guns more than you take care of children’s lives, you’re deliberately bad.
Don’t look elsewhere.#wake up #GunReformORA https://t.co/1zmll5tSKV
