Lightning rained down in Venice this Saturday, September 2, as the former model walked the Mostra red carpet.
Red carpet art rules. On September 2, at the Venice Film Festival, Carla Bruni performed a real exercise in style in front of Serenissima photographers. The 55-year-old singer played the classic card by donning a long form-fitting black dress with a pair of stiletto heels to attend the Golden Lion Awards, a lifetime achievement award for actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai. Adorned with a wide opening and an equally cleavage-baring neckline, her gown was encrusted with crystal-encrusted flowers at the neckline. A supermodel’s sure move, Carla Bruni stepped up on the red carpet, playing with her pair of dark glasses, a star-studded look staple. This glamorous look is branded Valentino, a nod to the country that welcomes her and where she’s from, but also to her modeling career.

Almost 35 years of history connects Carla Bruni and Valentino. In the late 1980s, when she was a young model, the Franco-Italian became one of fashion designer Valentino Garavani’s favorite models. So much so that between 1989 and 1996, Carla Bruni would be in all of his parades, sometimes packing a few parts for each performance. Today, although he is far from the catwalks, he remains loyal to Valentino. Like at the recent Cannes Film Festival in May, it’s not uncommon to see Carla Bruni in one of the brand’s creations, guaranteeing a remarkable pass in front of photographers.
