A South Korean media outlet allegedly accused Jungkook of plagiarizing the music of an iconic first generation girl group.
This Tuesday, the 22nd, BigHit Music, the company responsible for BTSissued a note responding to accusations of plagiarism of the track “Seven”, by jungkook.
As reported by Soompi, the complaint was made through a South Korean media outlet, which accused the BTS maknae of having used an excerpt from the song “Time of mask”, by the girl group Fin.KL, released in 2000.
In response, BigHit said:
“We would like to inform you that the copyright infringement allegations regarding Jungkook’s ‘Seven’ are not true. ‘Seven’ is a song that was made with the collaboration of five foreign composers, and it is a creation that has nothing to do with the music of a national album from 24 years ago, as some claim. They are unilateral claims that do not meet any criteria such as substantial similarity and principles in determining plagiarism.”
Since the release of “Seven”, jungkook has broken countless records and historic feats. Earlier this month, the idol became the first Korean solo artist to spend multiple weeks at number one on Billboard’s Global 200 and Global Excl charts, as well as the second solo artist from South Korea to spend more than a week in the top 10. from the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
