During June 28-29, a fire raged in the eastern part of the island, where the main forest plantations are located. There were quite unique landscapes, artificial plantations and forest areas. Something similar was also on the Kinburn Spit, which was also largely burned down. Sergey Danilov, deputy director of the Center for Middle East Studies, said this in a commentary to Ukrayinska Pravda.
the occupiers completely burned Dzharylgach, – said Danilov.
According to the scientist, in the spring, the island will again have a grass cover, but without human intervention, Dzharilgach will turn into a sandy island, which will be washed away by water.
Recall, on May 19, the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russian troops covered the strip of water between the mainland and the island of Dzharylgach with sand, thus joining it to the occupied territories of Kherson. Previously, this strait served as the main dolphin migration route, but the enemy turned the protected region into a military training ground.
